Riptide ukuleles by Boulder Creek incorporate innovative soundhole design with superior workmanship and materials to create one the truly most unique new ukuleles available.
Dual Port System
The Riptide's two sound ports function to project the sound to both the audience and also the player, a concept pioneered by the Boulder Creek "Solitaire Series" acoustic guitars and functionally adapted to the ukulele. Eliminating the traditional sound hole at the center of the soundboard serves to greatly increase volume, tone, and sustain.
Standard Mahogany Models
The Riptide Standard Mahogany Series feature the traditional ukulele look and tonal characteristics with Mahogany tops, backs, and sides. Modern Die cast tuning machines help to keep them in tune, and amplified versions are available in the EUC-5NS Concert model which comes with the Boulder Creek UK-300T preamp and pickup system with built-in tuner.
Deluxe Mahogany Models
The Deluxe Mahogany Series also features Mahogany backs, sides, and tops as well, with a solid mahogany top available on the model EUC-5NG for even more tone and sustain. Deluxe Mahogany Series models are equipped with the UK-300T preamp system with built-in tuner (excluding the model UC-5BC).
Spruce & Rosewood Models
The Spruce & Rosewood Series features Solid Spruce tops with backs and sides made of Rosewood. Additional features include the Boulder Creek exclusive "Dual Port System", Die cast tuning machines, and abalone binding around the body and both soundports. Acoustic-Electric versions also feature the Boulder Creek UK-300T preamp and pickup system with built-in tuner.
Deluxe Acacia Models
The Deluxe Acacia Series features Acacia backs and sides, with a solid Acacia top. Deluxe Acacia A/E Series models are equipped with the UK-300T preamp system with built-in tuner.
Ukulele Electronics
Riptide Acoustic-Electric ukuleles include the UK-300T preamp and pickup system, featuring a 2 Band EQ with Chromatic LED tuner, Bass and Treble Controls, Battery Status LED and powered by two (2) CR2032 batteries with 300 - 700 Hours of life. The Pick-up is and Omega II Piezo Cable pick-up, and the overall unit measures 2.2" x 1.6".
