"This is the first truly original innovation in acoustic guitars that we have seen for years. The “SBS” Suspended Bracing System creates a Tone Monster acoustic that blows away the sustain, balance and projection of other high-end guitars that are two and three times the price. Truly Amazing!!!" - The Music Motel Staff
Construction Boulder Creek guitars are not only innovative in design, but they feature quality materials and workmanship. To obtain the best possible tone, the tops and backs are solid tonewoods, while the sides are laminated wood in order to provide the best strength and durability. The tops, sides, backs, and necks utilize only top quality woods and feature solid spruce or solid cedar tops for optimum tone. The guitars' backs and sides are available in both mahogany and rosewood, depending on the model.
SBS Suspended Bracing System The “Suspended Bracing System” (patent pending) was developed by Mike Shellhammer in conjunction with Morgan Hill Music in the Silicon Valley. This is the most innovative advancement in acoustic guitar design in decades, and delivers excellent tone with the sustain of a much higher-cost instrument. To achieve this, the SBS design uses fewer points of contact and requires less bracing around the bridge area, allowing the guitar top to vibrate freely while maintaining its strength, durability and stability. The exclusive SBS aluminum tone bars allow the top to vibrate up and down, but prevent any damaging flex from the string tension. The aluminum bars secure the bridge firmly but are themselves suspended 1/2 inch below the top, thus avoiding any dampening of the vibration. The SBS bars are attached at each end of the soundboard to secure the bridge. The “SBS” system is simply a better way to brace a guitar. The increased tone, improved balance, and amazing sustain are the rewards.
Active Electronics
Boulder Creek Acoustic Electric Models feature the state-of-the-art "AB4-T" Active Balanced Acoustic System. Complete with an on-board tuner, the AB4-T features a specially designed cable-type saddle transducer that drastically reduces the "clunky" tone that is typical of piezo pickup systems. The AB4-T System also feature both balanced and unbalanced outputs for maximum signal and noise reduction in both stage and studio applications.
