Do you set up or adjust the musical instruments before you ship them?
When noted, the instruments are "shop adjusted", which means that the manufacturer has checked them and adjusted them to meet their standards. We do NOT adjust or set up the instruments at the Music Motel.
Since individual preferences and playing styles vary so greatly, no single set up specification will sastisfy every player and we find it best to leave the instruments set up as per the manufacturer's standards.
Some instruments are shipped in an unsetup condition to protect them during transit- for example, most violins are shipped with the bridge removed and the strings loose and they will require the bridge to be properly placed and in some cases the soundpost may be need to be set as well.
We recommend that the any fine adjusting or setup necessary be done after receiving the instrument- we highly recommend taking the instrument to a qualified luthier for setup and adjustment unless you are very comfortable and experienced in such set ups yourself.
